Motorhead - Overkill
Posted by BOBBY RAYFIELD on
Can we finally settle this and listen to Motorhead every Friday and stop debating what should be on the stereo? It never feels wrong and we both know there is not a single song that will not be accepted with great reverence. Fridays are for rock and roll and Motorhead has always had the gift to bring music words together. Raise your glass and let it be so.
Mazzy Star - Seasons of Your Day

When you need a seductive and emotional album to fill the space you can rely on Mazzy Star. There is something special going on here that digs into the soul and wraps you in the soft and bewitching voice. In a way it has the same siren effect that Stevie Nicks has, yet in their own uniqueness. Never connected that dot before writing this.
Pink Floyd - The Wall

It's almost impossible for me to hear this album without seeing the accompanying film with it. Even if the album is playing audio only, the visual of Pink standing over the crowd and asking the questions intended to divide and isolate flashes through my mind. It would be a hope that others would hear this and understand there is no way to have war without suffering. Be whichever side you choose, there is no happy ending for everyone and no one way to cope with the effects of it. Greed takes us down a dark path. More importantly, it showcases how group thinking can guide us down an even darker road without realizing it.
Nine Inch Nails - Pretty Hate Machine

I remember seeing the Head Like A Hole video and thinking it was such an interesting concept. There was tape thrown all over the set and the music was like something new and never heard before. It was ugly and angry visually but the production was clean. Great contrast of tones.
Skid Row - Slave to the Grind

Last week we discussed the pure joy the self titled album delivers to me. This week we are fortunate to have a reissue of the follow up in stock and it is jam packed with some of the greatest songs and vocal performance from the genre in whole. Heavy, blues based rock riffs, soulful and emotional spine tingling moments and untouchable vocal deliveries all around. This record belongs in a hall of fame somewhere.
