Well, nu-metal of any kind has never resonated with me. Having been in the same venue as Slipknot at festivals and other various reasons, I knew the band could deliver their performance but it never sank its teeth into me. By the time this album was released there was very little chance it would ever get a listen on my stereo. I've often wondered if they took the song title from the 1994 Dystopia Human = Garbage and twisted it to their advantage in 2001 to People = Shit or if that was a coincidence. Either way, this record is praised by the masses in that world and I can see why. It's not as bad as it felt to me at the turn of the century.

Slipknot - Self Titled

Let's Talk About...  Slipknot - Self Titled LP When the band debuted this album they circulated a cassette single at some random concerts of similar style. It was not really my cup of tea. Eventually they would take the stage during an Ozzfest event and they clearly had the talent and drive to make it happen. It never stuck with me though. Here we are over 20 years later and it's pretty obvious the band settled into the heavy music world comfortably. All in, it's neat to see a band reach these heights.
