Documenting the week of September 23-29
As the moonlight shines down upon us, we are well into a full scale Halloween season assault on the sketch work schedule! This has been a fun experience to dig through these prompts. Of course, seeing the massive flood of other artists sharing their work has been beyond inspiring. Dare I say a touch intimidating? Sharing publicly has never been a thing of comfort for me but thankfully this is not about competition. It is a celebration of the season and I am 100% onboard for it! Let’s get into it.

Sketch and Catch! I have never related to one of my pieces of artwork more than this one. Haha! Sketching this wandering soul face to face with a monster hound who may or may not be looking at it as a friend or possible lunch is perfectly fitting for the eventual photo captured here.
It’s like a manifestation of the artwork into the real world!
Teeth! I have discovered that, for all of my fear of dental work, sketching teeth is something I thoroughly enjoy. Some strange catharsis occurs. When this prompt arrived, it was an immediate interest to me.
The Fright-Fall prompts have been great, so far! In this case, my creation of a banshee made the whole family laugh. A welcomed treat on top of an already enjoyable evening.
Ritual comes in many forms. Coffee in the morning, an evening walk before bedtime or perhaps sprinkling magic crystals into an open flame to conjure a Halloween beast from the ether. We all have our quirks, right?
This kind of feels like entering a new chapter. There are a lot of elements from previous work coalescing into this. Though it is not easy to put my finger on what exactly is manifesting, it does remind me that all of these tricks and developments are in the bag for a reason. You pull one out when the time is right. In this case, a handful of notable efforts collide into this “calling card’.
No prompt here. A late evening after a record show. Worn a bit too thin and simply sketching for myself. Even when everything has been exhausted it still feels good to sit back for a moment and scratch around to see what happens.
When it comes to digging graves, this pup has it locked down! This concept was really funny to me. I could not be happier about how proud this animal looks about its work. A hand with a can of dog food or a can with a zombie hand logo would have been a great addition here. I missed seeing that in the first pass!
This battle jacket (NOT A VEST) is prepped for an autumn edition of Heavy Metal Parking Lot! Let’s roll!
Can’t stop laughing. What a circus! This was an attempt to convey my thoughts into a visual representation. It may not be perfect but it does feature many of the footnotes of a mobile carnival. The elements that remind me these bright colors are actually camouflage for the disaster that is prepped to unfold at any moment.

A throw back to my junior high school days when every page of paper had a band name or two scratched on it!
