Sketchy Thoughts | October 21, 2026

Space comets, Doom Shrooms, Zombie Pug, and a greyscale horror classic. Perhaps Bela Lugosi is not dead as we adventure into a week of Halloween sketches, color palettes, and giant lizards!

Documenting the week of October 14-20

From etching space comets to reference education, this week we continue down the path of discovery, Halloween curation, and outdoor adventure.

Daily Art | October 14-20

Sketch and Catch! I would imagine every universe has a comet with an etching of spiral fingers and eyeballs. Would you agree?

This pup loves the red ball. All smudges on this comet piece are courtesy of puppy drool.

Unknown Gnome continues my experimenting with limited color palettes. The lifeless plant vs the other standing tall makes me smile. It always feels good to add some contrasting elements to the concept.

Oct 14

The Food Foes concept was a bit of a struggle for me to envision. Once the idea of some poor fella getting bummed about a tofu steak crept into my thoughts it was a go. The cow waiter somehow breaking the fourth wall is perfect!

Oct 15

Not sure if anyone caught my Doom Shroom / Sabbath connection. If so, great! If not, now you know! More limited color choices, added some classic crackle in the back, and really enjoyed tacking on this work. Who knew mushrooms would be so fun to work with?

Oct 16

When one tampers with the tomb of King Pug they will suffer under the curse of Zombie Pug! There are some solid light elements going on with the pyramids. Behold! You shall kneel at the foot of Pug Sphynx.

Oct 17

Butt Pumpkins. Let the pumpkin dance party begin! “Wiggle Wiggle Wiggle”

I was really excited about this one. Perhaps my favorite of the week. It is not a difficult task to nudge me into a Bela Lugosi sketch. An additional thing that won me over was the choice to roll with greyscale. I did allow a touch of green for the floor but kept the remainder of the work in theme of the black and white reference image from the film.

Oct 18

Goblin was a crossover theme between the two challenges I am actively working through. Instead of sticking to one, I decided to have a second go at the Goblin and see what happens.

Oct 19

Oh no! There goes Tokyo! Go! Go! Haha!

Oct 20

So, someone recently discovered how to use the reference setting in procreate. Hooray for baby steps! Perhaps giant lizard steps?
