New Music Releases April 17, 2026
The weekend has arrived and the new release schedule has been posted. It’s time to jump into a quick preview of this weeks heavy hitters. Take a trip out to your local shop or tell a friend about something cool yo may have found or heard about this week.
New Album Releases April 17
Sceaduhelm by Crippled Black Phoenix / Season of Mist
rock hardrock indie rock post rock United Kingdom
I will likely never be able to properly pronounce the title of this album but what I can commit to is stating that everything this group has released to date has been solid gold. They can be a grower at times but that fits perfectly, as last year they were one of my favorites to crank up in the headphones while doing yard work. Nature at CBP feels like a perfect match to me. Heavy rock at it’s finest. A touch of psychedelics and earthy witchery.
Manor of Primitive Anticreation by IGNOBLETH / Caligari Records
metal black metal death metal grindcore heavy-metal thrash metal USA
Heavy, fast, destructive. Blackened metal fed by the fires of dark shadows and cold death. Low tuned and up tempo but not so much that we can not celebrate the absolute monstrous riffs packed in here. Speed is not the key but it does guide the vessel. It would be expected that there is some ancient thing at work here.
Meaningless Monuments by Occult Hand Order / Totem Cat Records
rock hard psych heavy rock psych revival stoner Lyon
Artists like this have the power to move the needle, in my opinion. The slow, heavy depth of the music is massive but the welcoming nature of the overall tone could capture the heart of anyone willing to sit with it and share some time. Psychedelic dosed hard rock done with thick walls of sound to share the trip.
Bonus: They have a strange video to share with us too!
Andros Insidium by Leila Abdul-Rauf / 20 Buck Spin
ambient cinematic dark ethereal ghostly neoclassical Oakland
Slow, cinematic darkness swathed in gothic texture and cold shadows. Haunting vocal accompanied by lower snarling groans and screeching angst. Imagine your favorite black metal style vocal co-hosting a ballad.
Creepy piano video to seal the deal. All jokes aside, this album is beautifully somber.
On the Promise of the Moon by REEKING AURA / Profound Lore Records
death metal doom metal extreme metal metal old school death metal New York
If you have been waiting for the perfect sampling of cookie monster death metal ripping the feathers from that big yellow bird, the time has arrived. Brutally aggressive death metal with all of the fix’ins. At times the gurgle voice can be a bit much but it still rips at a loud volume!
New Video Drops April 11-17
I am always down for a slow heavy jam. This BURIAL CLOUD jam fits into that equation. Lots of big notes and screaming.

Maybe you are thinking, “Let’s cut with the weird stuff. Give me some heavy stuff with a pulse.” This new track from ERDVE will likely light a fuse for the spring/summer metal festivals to come. This would go well among a larger rowdy crowd.
ERDVE - YDOS (Official Music Video)
Ok. Let’s keep that metal vibe going. A little more up-tempo and a touch more metal. Chugga-chugga riffs with ruff around the edges vocals set in your 90’s teenager basement jam room! Joking, of course. The entire time I found myself trying to spot what posters they have on the wall. Fun game!
Lair of the Minotaur - Prowler Twin Sister (Official Video)
Only one way to close this gig out. Bring on the creepy, uncomfortable noise rock! This track is KILLER. Lots of desolate, hopeless vibes and awkward video programing to add to the anxiety. It feels wrong to watch, but I did it anyway. It was for you.
Truck Violence - New Jesus (Official Music Video)
You thought we were done? So did I until this ripper dropped in my email. Straight up heavy metal with screaming vocals, pounding rhythms and a touch of anthemic tone that would scare that apparition out of your childhood closet and send it running to that crybaby neighbors house.
BLOODHUNTER - Threshold Of Hell feat. Fernando Ribeiro (Official Music Video)
…and then this hits us? Damn it, I love this band. They are trippy, unique, abrasive, tribal, punk, experimental and basically a touch of everything great you can think off. Toss it all in a blender, soak it in delay and distill it down to the most raw and primal energy you can handle consuming.
DEAFKIDS - REFLEXO (Official Video)
Welcome back the gothic soaked, post-rock sweethearts in Dead Register. It is so easy to fall into this band. The welcoming tone and structure seems to glide through the air with a massive weight in the undertone of the music.
A touch of pointless insider knowledge. If you have ever seen me play bass in the sludge band KOZA currently rattling the local Chattanooga, TN clubs, you will have seen me playing a TBC 5-string. Chvasta of Dead Register is the one who hyped me to that brand in the very early 00’s and it remains the bass used in my arsenal to this day!
Dead Register - “GRAVE” - Remaster 2026 (Official Music Video)
…is this the end?
