Welcome to the Edge of the World | New Music Releases June 19, 2026
A fresh listen has arrived with the new sunrise. From psychedelic and stoner rock to symphonic death metal and more, this week felt diverse in it’s highlights. A few things took me out of my conform zone and that is always appreciated in the adventurous shadows of the art world. Let’s get into it!

New Album Releases …
Loneshore - Nothing Left to Deconstruct / Willowtip Records
metal dark metal death metal doom doom metal melodic dark metal post-metal death metal prog metal progressive metal Brazil
This label has continued to hit me with some seriously creative and extreme artists. This one is not different, in that regard. A solid mix of chugging riffs, cookie monster vocals and an interesting touch of melodic pieces and time signature variations. I dig the spacey nature of the undertones. They keep pushing in a way that had me leaning forward toward the speakers.
PLAINDRIFTER - Gestalt / Ripple Music
rock desert rock heavy psych stoner rock Gelsenkirchen
This is a nice, psychedelic adventure into the world of desert rock. Where the initial album starts in a generally soft moment, the band eventually juices up their gear and delivers a powerful performance, both musically and vocally. They have a touch of dissonance in their writing style that feels refreshing for the genre. A welcomed change, in my opinion. I could look at this album cover for hours.

WARNING - RITUALS OF SHAME / RELAPSE RECORDS
metal doom uk doom United Kingdom
This album feels doomed. A terrific statement from these veterans of the craft. The overall mood feels like a cold, dark fog slowly drifting across the landscape. One that will occasionally reveal a glimpse of the forbidden forest. Swelling and then slowly dissipating. Swallowing everything except the shadows that seem to thrive in such a place. In brief moments we see a landscape dripping with a mourning yet to be explained.
Red Sun - Songs from Hidden Places / Subsound Records
heavy psych psychedelic rock rock space rock acidspacerock post-rock psychedelic spacerock Albone
Let’s celebrate my fellow Tennessee folks! Drifting gently into psychedelic atmospheres, this album glides through the humid air like a warm knife through butter. Smoothly executed and a treat to listen to on a slow morning or possibly later evening. A lot of dynamic range and an original creativity that is refreshing with plenty of space that makes it easy to sit with.
Eternal Recurrence - Eternal Recurrence / Independent
metal symphonic metal progressive metal Chicago
This album flirts with a lot of elements that might typically turn my ear away. In this case, there is a very interesting mix of diversity in this writing to keep me enaguged. Basically a heavy, symphonic prog metal basis with mixes of clean and ruff vocals. A ton of smooth musical moments that connect in a really pleasing way. A definite listen for the musically adventurous. Album artist is not noted, unfortunately.

New Video Drops …
Ol’ Time Moonshine - Royal Queen (Official Video, 2026)
Time to roll up that blunt and dig in to those tarot cards that lay before you. Bring on the witchy vibes and let the stoner sounds fill your lungs. Clean vocals step forward over a solid, heavy rock foundation that has some serious sing along potential. Great jam!
Besvärjelsen - Didn’t Come to Party [Official Music Video]
Where i may never be able to properly pronounce the band name, the riffs continue to remain true. Continuing to deliver a pulsating heartbeat that connects. Clean vocals, straight forward rock and some seriously cool breaks and melodies to seal the deal. Fun video! Both song and visual have serious repeatability.
Untitled With Drums - Matter (Official Music Video)
If you are anything like me, you understand the strength and struggle of a great band name. In this case, i find this one to be unforgettable and the post-rock vibes fit perfectly for an outside the box adventure. This one has a lot of quiet, loud, quiet shifts and feels good, without going overboard with it. It does lean on a mainstream vibe but never breaks into territory that would turn me away. Solid balance, once again.
TodoMal - Graveyards of Joy (Official Video)
Heavy, moderate chugging tempo, sinister vibes, great video. There is not much more I could say about this one. To clarify, the heavy is in an emotional angle. Clean vocals comfortably drift over a powerfully dark sound bed. Feels like its crying out for something slightly out of reach but not willing to give up the fight. Great work from every direction.
Plague of Angels – Pangea (Official Music Video) | Dark Alternative Metal
Angelic vocals soar over a dark melody of distortion and anger. Typically this combo does not sit well with me but this one worked out well to my ear. It’s slower in tempo which helps bend the mixture of elements in a good way. The guitars are heavy and melodic. I could see this being very powerful in a live setting. There are some gruff vocals that appear on occasion for transitional purposes but nothing that would scare off your co-worker.
…is this the end?
