September already! Before you know it, we will have a whole bucket full of metal bands trying to drop Halloween release dates. So be it! The spooky season is edging closer and with it comes a massive batch of great tunes to form our autumn soundtrack. As the leaves slowly change into a colorful landscape display and eventually fall to earth, the power of the riff will compel us into the era of long sleeves, hoodies and campfires. Let’s get into it!

New Album Releases …

Fog Wall - Gloomweaver / Self-Release

Delivering an unhealthy dose of cryptic death metal at warp speed, this album will grab you by the throat and pummel you into an eventual grave. Bloody, bruised, and gasping for a last breath, you are cut in half by yet another hyper-paced blast beat. The gravel-throated vocals scream into your soon-to-be-corpse eyes as the darkness slowly consumes all. Once the cycle is complete, it smashes the remains into the dirt with a tombstone. This is a ripper, indeed!

PELEGRIN -The Curse of Nephtar / Ripple Music

Dabbling in a slight dose of psychedelic rock, this album is built on a firm foundation of fuzzed-out stoner jams. A clean vocal presence and song structure filled with dynamics allows the listener to form a sense of comfort in the adventure. Easy to enjoy and a welcome energy of experimentation that does not push so far out that it would cause a disconnect with a majority of ears.

Demonic Manifestation - Grimshrine / Personal Records

This is one mean mother of a death metal album! It is extra dark, fast-paced and screaming directly into the face of all things sinister. The full moon brings forth the creeping shadows and with them comes the one they fear. Dread fills the pit of your stomach as these thrash-drenched riffs reach inside and squeeze until it oozes out of your now expanding, ghoulish green flesh. Excellent album cover elements and execution!

Vulture Neck - Vulture Neck / Independent

Powerful riffs explode with energy here. These tunes feel like a sludge-soaked fist to the face. The vocals are delivered firmly with a clean tone and perhaps a slight scream. Really great style to pair with the fuzz-driven heaviness of the songwriting. The rhythm section is not afraid to dig in, step slightly out of the pocket and showcase some extra grit. There are doom-directed moments that open the door for a touch of psych to creep into the metal atmosphere. It is in no way a carbon copy, but fans of early KARP will want to investigate this.

MOON DESTROYS - OMNI / Blues Funeral Recordings

Every now and again an album shows up that checks all of the boxes for greatness. This feels like one of those. From the initial interest in the vibrant album cover to the thick riffs, comfortably paced, tight rhythm section and well-delivered vocal style, this heavy rock, stoner/doom presentation could be handed to just about anyone and it might connect with them. Add to that the production is top-notch, and it is all wrapped up! Exciting and energetic. Recommend this to a friend who complains about the state of modern rock music.

New Video Drops …

The Machine - Drop/See (Official Music Video)

Dig into the first single from the forthcoming album “Another Sun” by THE MACHINE. Dutch stoner psych jams! Super comfortable to crank up and highly recommended.

Watch for the October 2nd release via Blues Funeral Recordings (UK and North America), and Awe Records in cooperation with Stickman Records for Europe.

Dreamwell - Carrion Birds on the Ark (Official Music Video)

This is heavy, noisy and brutal! Get ready for it. Short, aggressive and basically crushes everything.

Hymns For The Denial Of God releases on August 28th via Prosthetic Records.

hijss - S.W.A.N. // HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Records

This video was featured on The Sleeping Shaman a few weeks ago and absolutely caught my attention musically and visually. Slow, psychedelic and heavy in atmosphere. This video made me laugh the entire time. Well done. Can not wait to hear more of this release.

The new album “hijss” releases September 18th via Heavy Psych Sounds.

Stoned Jesus - Velvet (Official Video)

This band continues to deliver some quality jams that are stacked with heavy tones and cover many genre directions. In this case, the song is a bit slower, moderate and fuzzy. Feels generally mainstream (not in a generic bad way) and drifts along to slowly build to a powerful end.

Songs to Moon releases October 16, 2026 via Season of Mist.

FOREIGN BODY - LIBERTINES MUSIC VIDEO

Everything Is Noise recently premiered this video. Mixing elements of art, punk and noise rock, this tune is dripping with angst and the video delivers enough discomfort to offer nightmares in the waking hours. Really looking forward to this album.

Libertine releases September 11th via Brutal Panda Records.
