Welcome to the Edge of the World | New Music Releases September 25, 2026
It would be untrue to my current mood to open with new and exciting energy. The week has been long and drawn out. In reflection, it was the type of week that left one questioning their path, the scope of what the future may hold, and how to reshape current motivations into a compounded force. Though this may seem to start with an honest evaluation of internal dialogue, the end result of my research is no different today than any other week-ending examination.
Our creative world is bursting at the seams. It is a gift to experience and share such art and vision with friends. Thank you to everyone who continues to show up, push forward through their darkness, create, and share their work with the outside world.

Faith Coloccia + Tashi Dorji - And Their Power Was Alive / Whited Sepulchre Records
An absolutely beautiful collaboration that manages a balance of delicate light and fragile shadows. The album allows the listener to drift without worry of the undercurrent or the destination. As it floats along, searching for conversation with angels, it simultaneously wraps the ear in colors and shapes that welcome the day or settle the soul for an evening’s dream.

KONGH - Dissolved in Time / Trust No One Recordings
A big, fuzzy, power-hungry sludge fest. For those who want to get knocked off the barstool but kind of need to test the water before the vocals commit to a full-blaze assault. This album mixes strong, clean vocals with the snarling hate-bath one typically gets with the genre. It finds a great balance between pushing all things heavy, smoldering amplifier style and keeping it in the pocket for folks who are ready to catch fire but may be on the fence about stepping into the slow burn.

Wharflurch - Mycodeath and Rebirth in the Outer Clusters / Personal Records, Gurgling Gore, Dawnbreed
Lower-toned, guttural, doomed-to-this-earth death metal. The tempo consistently shifts between chugging, metallic sections and slow, gloomy passages with a solid dose of double-bass-driven hatefulness. Basically, it is the all-around soundtrack everyone wants blaring from their tomb when they return as zombies. Extra-grumpy vocals and a good time to be had. An occasional touch of drifting psychedelics creeps in during select sections too!

Lord Gryphus - Summoning the King of Death / Nespithe
Blackened, U.S. death metal with a touch of extra disgust. Taking us on an abrasive ride through the heaviest elements of classic metal, these tunes pull no punches. Instead, they assault at every level and leave us bludgeoned and bruised upon the roadside. It is a fine thing to feel these songs rip through the headphones and slaughter a few innocents along the way. Not 100% confirmed, but I believe the correct artist is noted below.

Sometimes we need a thing to cleanse the palate. A way to find sense or purpose in our current routine. Perhaps these words come from a place of current personal struggle, but hearing such an amazing alternate universe materialize from this music rejuvenates me. It is a stark reminder that nothing is final in the world of art. There is a new beginning for everything. When walls are built, they can also be torn down and reshaped. This is a beautiful testament to openness and experimentation. A welcome sound and inspiration for my existing timeline.
