Welcome to the Edge of the World | New Music Releases October 23, 2026

This week is pushing the limits, for sure. Some of my favorite album releases of the month are featured here. They range from sludge, thrash, and stoner rock ‘n’ roll to straight-down-the-line doom. If this is your first time walking the edge with us, or you have been here weekly, this batch is going to crush your skull. Let’s get into it!

New Album Releases …

Ian Blurton’s Future Now - Imperial Filth / Pajama Party 2026

This is a stacked batch of heavy rock jams! High-octane and ready to tap that ‘80s-era backyard kegger wide open. It gets heavier when it needs to, brings the chorus vocal style when it needs you to raise your fist in the air, and rips out some tasty thrash-style and twin-lead riffs when it’s time to slice you open. Everything about this album feels fresh while pulling elements from classics in the heavy music realm that we know and love. Imagine Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and REO Speedwagon splitting their DNA into an unstoppable clone of good-time party jams.

GREAT FALLS - The Bite That Grows Up / Neurot Recordings

A selection of raw, honest, brutal, and devastating output. Wielding an isolating aesthetic of dense and powerful songwriting, the entire album sends my thoughts into a dark catharsis that only the best art can tap into. This is the sound of desperation and redemption wrapped into one suffocating purge of emotion. Damn, this is good.

Bokkerijders - Crush Kill Destroy / Personal Records

Full-scale metal assault! Imagine all of the bullet belts in the world joined in one massive link to circle pit in unity. Well, this may be a blackened version of such an event. The vocals are vicious. They scream in your face with the strength of violent intentions on their sleeve. The riffs are razor-sharp, and there is no shortage of blackened, adrenaline-soaked string shredding. The percussive assault locks into a tempo slightly above typical standards. This will be a delight for the classic thrash fan who is ready to push further into the darkness.

EARTHBONG - Salutations to the Cultivators / The Lasting Dose Records, Evil Noise Recordings

Slow, painful, crushing, and everything one needs to destroy an environment within earshot of this sonic monster. The vocals strain like a rabid beast on a diet of raw stone while the lumbering pulse of these songs stresses under their own tempo. At times, it feels suffocating. It is as if the beating heart is counting down to a final rhythmic tremor. Any fan of sludge/doom will welcome this resin-soaked behemoth with open arms. It certainly lands on my list of favorites from this month.

PRATSJ - Rotte Nès / Polder Records

Aggressive, chunky, sludge-soaked punk angst. This is a heavy-weighted batch of jams. The vocals are not afraid to voice a vulgar opinion that will hurt your feelings while maintaining the ability to shift into solid punk-and-roll anthem range. There are moments of solid grooves that touch and go through waves of stripped-down, consolidated, chugga-chugga distortion. There is an occasional lull in the musical flow that is certainly meant to pull you down low enough to punch you directly in the face.
