New Album Releases …
Dream Unending - Certain Uncertainties / 20 Buck Spin
One of my favorite elements about the musical universe is the diversity available within it. This album captures that mentality a hundred times over. There is no boundary left unbroken in this melting pot of amazement and beauty. There are moments so clear and mellow that you could pass this along to a jazz fan; later sections could settle comfortably with your Deadhead friends' campfire jams or they could enlighten your death metal buddy who wants the most oppressive, grumbling death vocals on the planet. This album is an adventure through the music lovers paradise. Seriously creative and well-received by these ears.

Black Royal - Abyssian / M-Theory Audio
This album is stacked with ripping vocals, massive chords, gloomy sections that carry the listener cautiously into the next sludge-soaked passage and an all-around musical smack to the face. The band means business and is not afraid to let volume work as a weapon. Great stuff for the heavy music fan ready to push lame trends aside and get down to business.

Exhumed, Nunslaughter, Molder, Traffic Death - 4 Way Split / Redefining Darkness Records
If you are a fan of extreme music, this album will be your golden ticket. Piled onto one hefty slab is a team of unrelenting, death-grind, brutality-driven purveyors of the craft. Expect torturous screams and grumbling vocals that sound like they could eat the cookie monster for breakfast, plenty of shredding riffs and hopped-up adrenaline-soaked battery attacks. This is a terrific way to discover some new bands, and this team brings the heat.

VIGIL - Primordial Rites / Shadow Kingdom
Attacking with razor-sharp precision, these songs remove flesh from bone with every shredding riff. The vocals are fierce and raspy while feeling comfortably at home over the slaughtering pace of the music. If you are a fan of classic thrash and are not afraid to let your listening space burst into flames sparked by death metal worship, this album will take you to where your heart desires. It is a statement of fact that this album means serious business. No question. Killer cuts from start to finish.

GROTESQUERIES - Nightmare Delirium EP / Caligari Records
Hammering away at the classic death metal mountain, these tunes nestle nicely in the shadowy caves where those decrepit creatures roam. There is no strict pace set for the songs. While some may launch out at a furious pace, other sections keep it slow and low. The entire sequence works in a terrific way, allowing the listener to experience the 1-2 punch of adrenaline followed by the suffocating nature of a swampy, dense, and chunky riff.
