André Drage Group - Wolves (Drage 2025)

André Drage Group - Wolves
(jazz, fusion, prog)

Stepping from the darkness and ripping through a scorching batch of jazz fusion, Wolves by the André Drage Group is aptly titled after a pack of fierce and teeth-baring K9.

Looking for a treat that is sure to set your mind ablaze? This album pulls the ear into the wonderful world of extreme precision and musical obscurity with every note. It feels like an attack on the instruments with a persistent groove pushing everyone to lean a bit more forward. It seems evident that they are bloodthirsty in the best of ways.

Lean forward you say? At one point I had to acknowledge sitting on the edge of my seat and I'm not in the band. Ha!

General Synopsys: Consistent fusion with some fun melt downs. Willing to step outside the comfort zone with bizarre sounds but nothing that loses track of the main adventure. Recommended if you dig prog era Zappa, Mahavishnu Orchestra or the '77 Jeff Beck and Jan Hammer live album.
