Atomikylä - Keräily (Svart Records 2016)

Atomikylä - Keräily
(psychedelic metal)
(Tampere, Finland)
(Svart Records 2016)

Blending passages in ways never thought imaginable, Keräily by Atomikylä has taken our ear for a lecture on pushing psychedelic sludge to new levels.

The shear power of the first note latched onto my curiosity in a way that is unexplainable. As the motion begins, the structure is a balance of repetition and awkward introductions of sounds. Absolutely nasty vocal cries are introduced that scream of agony over a punished guitar. Meanwhile, a pulsing rhythm section consistently drives forward in hypnotic trance. There is a shift in the cycle. One that feels seamless. Now the band has shifted to another massive impact of noteworthy direction. Earth's crust cracks open. This artist may be the destroyer of worlds.

Where this album will shake some listeners in the first minute, those who hang on for the ride will be delivered beyond reward.
