Booker Little 4 & Max Roach LP If you are looking to step toward the jazz circuit but none of your friends seem to have the inside scoop, trust Uncle Bobby when he says this is a great option to consider. Max Roach was one of the major players of jazz drumming and this record does not take long to showcase why. Where many jazz albums lean heavy on the moody, mellow and smokey vibes, this record is mostly uptempo. There is a track or two that take it down a notch but those stay pretty active musically as the process is fulfilled. This lineup is about as solid as one could ask for. IMO, you can always trust a jazz album from a band leader who plays drums.
