Caspar Brotzmann Massaker - The Tribe
(Noise rock, experimental)
(Germany)
(Southern Lord)
Combining all of the viciousness of the Jesus Lizard (before the Jesus Lizard) with the explosive, sonic landscape of the Hendrix Experience at peak explosion, The Tribe by Caspar Brotzmann Massaker is a nightmarish monster creeping out from dark, web coated record libraries of long ago.
It is the year 2024 and we find some serious nuggets of new musical wealth lurking around every corner. The modern age of music is blossoming in a way no one could have imagined in 1988 when Marat Records released this beast of an album. It feels more in line with no wave or some rock fusion, free jazz, minus the jazz, than any other comparison that comes to mind. A welcomed reminder that we have been surrounded by musicians pushing boundaries far beyond our wildest imagination for many, many years. All happening right under our noses.
For those who might have missed out, Southern Lord has reissued this album for us to discover or rediscover!
