The Death and Life of the Great Lakes is a 45 minute study of the Great Lakes region, loss, and community. The core of the work is a five song suite that sonically emulates each of the Great Lakes, and it is bookended with two pieces that reflect on the loss of my mother during the summer of 2024. It is a dynamic, melodic, abrasive, and massive piece of music and functions best when digested in its entirety. In recording this album we aimed to capture the intensity and feel of our live performances and are confident that we achieved just that. There are a lot of blast beats and a lot of riffs packed into this beast.

Heruvim are not just a band -- they are a family. They are united by their love for death metal and the heavy music they create, despite the chaos they currently face.

While writing Mercator, half of the band were abroad, and the other half remained in Odesa, Ukraine. The recording process wasn't easy. Many studios shut down and with the ongoing war traveling to record was dangerous. Bombings, shrapnel and forced conscription were constant threats.

A meditation on suffering, transformation, and the fragile thresholds of the human psyche, Innern refines the band’s signature blend of black metal intensity and post-metal atmosphere. The title, German for “inward”, anchors the album’s conceptual weight: a turning away from the external, into a realm of personal reckoning, silence, and renewal. Across six meticulously crafted tracks, the band explores cycles of disintegration and emergence, inviting listeners to confront the deep and often contradictory nature of existence itself.
