Let the digging begin!

Abstraction by Dysylumn / Signal Rex

https://dysylumn.bandcamp.com/album/abstraction

Since their formation in 2010, DYSYLUMN have been something of an unsung "dark horse" of the French black metal scene. Whilst exhibiting some of that scene's idiomatic traits - the robustness of the orthodox / religious school, the melancholy of its more lonerist school - the duo have recast them in vivid new iterations. SIGNAL REX made a bloodpact with the band in 2020 to release their visionary second album, 2018's Occultation, on vinyl. Two years later, DYSYLUMN impossibly eclipsed that modern classic with the staggering double-album Cosmogonie, also in 2020. Between the two recordings, the duo displayed a breadth of vision firmly rooted in black metal's noblest traditions, but one more so aiming for the hinterlands of creativity and experience.

Menetekel by Gorleben / Darkness Shall Rise

Founded in 2010, GORLEBEN describes their style as a mixture of death, doom, and black metal enriched with atmospheric and rudimentary elements.

The Abyss into which We All Have to Stare by Void Of Sleep / Aural Music

https://voidofsleep.bandcamp.com/album/the-abyss-into-which-we-all-have-to-stare

Aural Music is proud to present Void of Sleep's highly anticipated fourth album, The Abyss Into Which We All Have to Stare.

Forged in Ravenna, Italy in 2010, Void of Sleep – guitarist Gale, vocalist / guitarist Burdo, drummer Allo, and bassist Paso – conjure a cosmic amalgam of progressive sludge rock where epic rhythms melt into bottom-heavy doom breakdowns, complex time-signatures, and psychedelia. Following a three-song promo EP, Giants & Killers, which garnered the attention of Italian imprint Aural Music, the band released their full-length debut, Tales Between Reality and Madness, in 2013. Crowned, "adventurous, intelligent, and refreshingly addictive," by Teeth Of The Divine and an "underground gem worth discovering" by Metal Underground, the record proved wholly engrossing both sonically and thematically, with lyrics exploring the darkest corners of the human psyche, oneiric visions, and lysergic nightmares.

DEUX by MOUNDRAG / Spinda Records // Stolen Body Records

https://moundrag.bandcamp.com/album/deux

Moundrag is a fire-driven, boundary-free rock duo formed in 2019 by brothers Camille and Colin Goellaen Duvivier. With Camille on organ and Colin on drums — both sharing vocals in a hypnotic call-and-response — they forge a sound that’s raw, epic and unmistakably their own. Their 2019 debut EP introduced their signature blend of 70s-inspired heaviness with a modern grit, proving you can play rock ‘n’ roll without guitars. In 2022, their first album, “Hic Sunt Moundrages”, expanded their universe with progressive rhythms, psychedelic swells, and a bold, dramatic edge.

Mendacium by EVOKEN / Profound Lore Records

https://evokenofficial.bandcamp.com/album/mendacium

Where EVOKEN's latest album 'Hypnagogia' would see the band capture and focus on a more melancholic, tangible, and even more of an accessible sonic design, 'Mendacium' takes that acute shift back to the monumental dirge-like dread and woeful catacombic and disharmonious heaviness reminiscent of the band’s 'Quietus' and 'Antithesis of Light' masterworks. All while still encapsulating the tectonic-shifting nature of their 'Caress of the Void' and 'Atra Mors' releases while venturing more through classic gothic audial textures and even treading a little down experimental mire as well, reminiscing an aura seeping from such luminary artists as Dead Can Dance, Monumentum, and Disembowelment.

Into the Golden Halls by Æternia / Cruz Del Sur Music

https://aeternia.bandcamp.com/album/into-the-golden-halls

Combining that epic and monumental sense of grandiosity and melody that you would anticipate from a band like pre-symphonic Blind Guardian or Helloween and adorned by stunning cover artwork by Adam Burke, this promises to be a real gem of the current scene that evokes majesty in every aspect both sonically and visually. Boldly, the band decided to record and produce the album themselves, so you can feel their hard work ethic in every fibre of this music. A truly monumental debut album that all power metal fans must hear!

X-ÆON by GIÖBIA / Heavy Psych Sounds

https://heavypsychsoundsrecords.bandcamp.com/album/gi-bia-x-on

The mystical day 60s rock met neo-psychedelic rock, mixing up to the point of losing consciousness of their own essence, that’s when Giöbia’s acid psychedelic rock was born, in an overwhelming and incessant soundtrack with an unmistakable Italian taste. In a vortex that leaves no way out, the unique melodies of this quartet take the listener into a world where the boundaries of reality are no longer defined and anything can ever happen.

Come On Everybody, Let's Do Nothing! by IAN / HUMAN WORTH

https://helloianband.bandcamp.com/album/come-on-everybody-lets-do-nothing

There's a true sense of friendship and unity that permeates when listening to IAN. Though the quintet are fairly new on the UK scene, the band members have been friends and bandmates in various other ventures for over two decades. Having all worked at Exeter's Cavern Club at some point, members of IAN played in two short-lived bands, Tyler and The Quiller Memorandum in the early '00s, the former touring with Hell Is For Heroes. With some of the members being out of action for over a decade and following various different life pursuits, this group of friends were assembled back together sometime during the pandemic in the form of IAN. Wasting no time, by 2023 they were already playing shows across London, and going straight into writing this full length album. The quintet booked in with revered producer and engineer Wayne Adams at his London studio Bear Bites Horse, which has been home to Green Lung, USA Nails, John, Shooting Daggers, Vacuous, Wallowing and countless more heavy and leftfield greats. Adams brings a spacious touch to the record, creating the illusion of great expanse and allowing each instrument their times to be loud and prominent, as well as to withdraw into a more textural bedding.
