Bygone - Bygone / Svart Records

Boston based heavy metal act Bygone's self-titled debut album lands on December 12th via Svart Records, ready to soundtrack your cosmic explorations of an imagined past. You could call it hard rock or heavy metal, but on this LP it's probably closest to Métal Hurlant. This is hardly the first slab of molten black and silver forged by the members of the band, who have previously traveled the Iommic byways of configurations like Magic Circle, Blazon Rite, Concilium, Witchtrial, and Missionary Work. Here, they join together to forge new routes through the whirlpool where matter vanishes.

EFF - Zero / Independent

https://effdarkness.bandcamp.com/album/zero

Out of the stillness of personal reflection—where loss and longing settle like shadows upon memory—emerges Zero, the debut album by EFF, a darkwave project from Germany that has been steadily shaping its own voice between melancholy and motion since 2023.

Atavistia - The Winter Way (Reforged) / Blood Blast Distribution

https://atavistia.bandcamp.com/album/the-winter-way-reforged

Symphonic melodeath storytellers ATAVISTIA are set to return with The Winter Way (Reforged), a magnificent re-recording of their 2020 album, on December 12 via Blood Blast Distribution. While working on a brand new album, ATAVISTIA mastermind Mattias Sippola was inspired to rework The Winter Way into an album that reflects the band’s current sound and abilities; not just remixing or remastering the album, but completely overhauling it. The Winter Way (Reforged) features new recordings, arrangements, modern production, and completely rewritten orchestral and atmosphere elements. The addition of Spencer Budworth’s bombastic growls add a new layer of grandiosity to the band, laying the foundation for a world of new adventures.

Black Rabbit - Warren Of Necrosis / Independent

https://blackrabbitnl.bandcamp.com/album/warren-of-necrosis-2

Black Rabbit is a concept-driven death metal band from Apeldoorn that seamlessly interweaves brute force and aggression with profound themes and a compelling visual presentation. The band consists of five musical forces with diverse influences, who together create a dynamic, ruthless but refined sound. With energetic live shows full of theatrical visuals and an intense light spectacle, Black Rabbit takes their audience into a narrative world of darkness and mystery.

ROTTEN SOUND - Mass Extinction / Season of Mist

https://rottensound.bandcamp.com/album/mass-extinction

The state of the world has only fallen further into disrepair, but after three crust-ridden decades, ROTTEN SOUND are still grinding. Despite production slowing to a halt during the pandemic, the Finnish vets outran the coming apocalypse on their last album. Now, two years later, they’re back with another brief but no less devastating burst. Take cover, metalheads. Rotten Sound are laying waste to the opposition with Mass Extinction.

THE VIRGOS - Lord Have Mercy / Season of Mist

https://thevirgos.bandcamp.com/album/lord-have-mercy

Dubbed the heaviest band in Pennsylvania, The Virgos are ushering in a new age for true heavy metal.

"The theme of Lord Have Mercy is that we missed out on the future", explains Saba. "Utopia isn't happening. We're going backwards now. Superstition, devilry, war, plagues, revolution...it's the Dark Ages again. So let's get with the times. Medieval times call for Medieval responses. If you want to understand the headspace I was in while writing this album, watch Fulci's 1983 movie Conquestseveral dozen times. It's all in there".
