BEEHOOVER - HEAVY ZOOO LP

The artwork on this record caught my eye and I’m stoked the curiosity paid off. The sound of Beehoover Heavy Zooo is huge! Yes. There are three o’s in Zooo.

It’s been a long while since an album had me on the edge of my seat in such an entertaining and unexpected way. There was no way to predict what would happen next as the songs continue to metamorphosis into new riffs, constantly. There are probably more riffs on this album than some long term artists have in their entire discography. It’s moderate paced. Nothing grinding or hyper fast. Imagine a Melvins/Karp tempo and tone assembled in a way that you have never heard. Tons of parts like a Dillinger Escape Plan songbook played mid-tempo.

I’m hesitant to reference any band because it’s so original but it’s more about giving you a direction in description. They do have some uptempo, monster riffs and also some very delicate lows and it’s all fresh produce, in my opinion. Stylishly done and easy to groove along with, even as it consistently changes from riff to riff without repeating. All or nothing while plowing forward without looking back! A task not easily accomplished without the whole vibe falling apart.

This album is a modern marvel, in my opinion.
